Royal Air Force History

This section of the Royal Air Force site celebrates the history of the service and its pioneering role in the development of aviation, from its earliest beginnings to the present day.

The section is divided into four areas:

Information about the Air Historical Branch of the RAF
The News Archive dating back to 2020
A Histories section with features on significant aircraft, campaigns and battles as well as the origins of the RAF
Finally, a Timeline tracing the history of aviation and the RAF

The history photograph gallery has now been moved to the Downloads section. It can be found under the Downloads button on the toolbar above, or by clicking HERE.

If you are a current or ex-member of the service, or have an interest in Royal Air Force history the Royal Air Force Historical Society exists to provide a focus for those interests. If you would like to know more about the society, its aims and activities, and recieve an application form, then click here.
