Air Chief Marshal meets with recruits at HMS Raleigh.Commander in Chief Strike Command, Air Chief Marshal Sir Brian Burridge, spent the day at the Royal Navy’s premier training establishment in the South West to see how the Service prepares its sailors for modern operations. During the day Air Chief Marshal Burridge was briefed on the role of the establishment and met recruits at varying stages of their eight week course, including those undergoing resource and initiative training. Air Chief Marshal meets inspects the passing-out parade.During the afternoon Air Chief Marshal Burridge inspected the 54 recruits at their ‘Passing-in-Parade’, as they were watched by their families and friends. He also presented trophies to the recruit and class who achieved the best results during training.

Commanding Officer of HMS Raleigh, Commodore David Pond, said: “With the increase focus on joint operations it was good to be able to brief Air Chief Marshal Burridge on the training we provide for the Royal Navy at HMS Raleigh. Turning ‘civvies into sailors’ is an important role for us but so too is the critical task we have in preparing individuals and ships’ teams for operational deployments.”

All ratings joining the Service receive the first phase of their Naval training at HMS Raleigh. The establishment also provides professional courses in military training, seamanship, logistics and submarine operations as well as vital training for ships’ team preparing for deployment.
